Welcome to the Asian Division of The International Geography Bee!

The International Geography Bee is delighted to offer a new year of geography quiz competition to students in Asia! Within the Asian Division, the same four age divisions apply for the 2023-24 academic year as for the International History Bee and Bowl. For students in Asia, the IGB consists of four levels: Online Regional Qualifying Exam, Regional Finals, the Asian Championships, and the International Geography Championships, though students can already qualify for the Championships at the Regional level as well.

The Regional Finals Tournaments are buzzer-based competitions and follow the same rules as the International History Bee Regional Tournaments and the IGB Asian Championships.

The Online Regional Qualifying Exam has 50 multiple-choice questions with 4 possible answers to each question, and students always have 20 minutes to complete it. Students receive 2 points for a correct answer, -1 points for an incorrect answer,  and 0 points for an answer left blank. There are two versions of the Online Regional Qualifying Exams – Alpha and Beta. Students interested in taking a version of the Qualifying Exam at their school should email suopeng@iacompetitions.com to register for this option.

At the Asian Championships of the International Geography Bee, the Asian Championships of The International History Bee and Bowl and International Science Bee are also contested. The Asian Championships for the International Geography Bee consist of 3 to 4 preliminary rounds of 30 paragraph-length buzzer quiz questions, and one or two rounds of playoffs for the top students from the preliminaries. Please see the questions used at our past Asian Championships on the Resources page to get a sense of the sort of questions that are asked at the Championships.
