The International Geography Bee is meant to provide an opportunity for students from around the world to compete in an exciting new competition that rewards knowledge of all aspects of geography. Geographic knowledge is essential for being an informed citizen of one’s nation and the world in the 21st century. Our hope is that students will continue to put their new-found geography skills to use throughout their education, careers, and in their day to day lives for their own benefit and for the benefit of all. The International Geography Bee is also structured to be both fair and exciting for competitors through the use of paragraph-length questions that reward critical thinking and comprehensive knowledge of topics in geography, as well as a buzzer system at its championship level competitions.
Finally, we hope that in providing a competition for students who are interested in geography, students will have an opportunity to develop friendships with like-minded students from around the world at our championship competitions.
